Learn Physics Chapter-wise with the Extramarks App

The act of determining the changes in the energy of a system by measuring the heat exchanged by the system with surroundings is known as calorimetry. Heat is a form of energy and when two bodies having different temperature are in contact, the heat flows from the body at a higher temperature to the body at a lower temperature. The device that is used to measure the quantity of heat is known as a calorimeter. Chapter 11 Calorimetry discusses a few properties of heat and the method by which the quantity of heat is measured using a calorimeter. The well laid out solutions contain a variety of numerical questions that will give an in-depth understanding of the chapter. Access the description link provided for ICSE Class 10 study materials.
Understand the concepts of Physics: Heat capacity, specific heat capacity and their difference with online study material for ICSE Class 10 on Extramarks.
When a hot body is mixed (or comes in contact) with a cold body, heat energy passes from hot body to cold body, till both the bodies attain the same temperature. Example: To cool a glass containing hot milk, place it in cold water. Heat flows from hot milk to cold water until both their temperature are equalized. This process in which Heat energy lost by hot body = heat energy gained by the cold body is known as calorimetry. The study of the heat gained or lost during physical processes and chemical reactions are called calorimetry. It is based on the law of conservation of energy. Learn about calorimeter and understands how the principle of calorimetry is used in your daily life with ICSE Class 10 Physics study materials. Get the ICSE syllabus for Class 10 on Extramarks.
